Choosing the Right Length
The most common mistake is trying to do too much in too little time. Spending 2–3 days in 2 parks is better than 1 day each in 4 parks — you see more, pay less on transfers, and have time to properly observe wildlife rather than rushing.
3 days is the absolute minimum for any meaningful Tanzania safari. 5–7 days is the sweet spot. 10+ days allows you to go deeper, include Zanzibar, or visit the southern circuit.

7-Day Northern Circuit + Zanzibar
- Days 1–5: As above (5-day safari)
- Day 6: Fly from Serengeti or Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar. Check in to beach resort.

10-Day Deep Tanzania Safari

This itinerary covers all of northern Tanzania properly and gives 3 nights in Zanzibar — the gold standard Tanzania trip.
Yes, but manage expectations. 3 days is enough for a taste — Tarangire and Ngorongoro together give an excellent introduction. You will not reach the Serengeti in 3 days by road without spending most of your time driving. A fly-in to the Serengeti with 3 days is possible but significantly more expensive.
Yes, if you have 8+ days. The safari-to-beach transition is one of the most satisfying travel experiences available. Zanzibar is 45–90 minutes from Kilimanjaro or Dar es Salaam by air. Most mid-range operators offer combined packages.
